The number of first downs they've managed to get. |

But offensive AI doesn't allow you to modify your passing plays based on side of the field, only by distance. So what would be really useful is a breakdown of passing success by distance (short, medium, long). |
The problem is there's no way for me to tell when a pass was thrown short/medium/long. I can only tell if it was completed. And even then, I can't tell if it was a 40 yard pass with the receiver being tackled immediately, or a 2 yard pass with the receiver earning an extra 38 yards on his own. They're both 40 yard gains to me despite being very different passes. For network traffic reasons, I'm limited to the information available in the play-by-play. Until the play-by-play is expanded, there isn't much I can do. |
I hadn't even thought about YAC |

Hi Pabst,
First, thank you so much for all your hard work.
My question concerns the Game Scout stats. I am just unclear on some of the defensive abbreviations.
1) what is YPT for defenders
2) what is stop/defeat for run defenders
Thanks in advance for your help! |

YPT = yards allowed per tackle
stop = It's the defensive equivalent of the success rate stat. If a tackle by a defensive player prevents a successful run/pass, then it's considered a stop. If he causes a loss of yardage or does it on 3rd/4th down, he gets credit for a defeat as well. |

This is the last version before I finished rewriting everything. It will work with Firefox2 but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Looks like the ones without the fielding player listed aren't registering the yardage correctly (a new change to the play-by-play?). I'll fix it tomorrow.
